Dragons. Ones of the most powerful beings to ever walk this earth. Their roars shattered the sky. Their footsteps tremble the earth. And…
Well. No other words are necessary.
Location: Unknown. Dragons fly throughout the skies of Mirrasil, and roam the lands. However, legends speak of the ancestral home of dragons, located somewhere within Mirrasil.
Behavior: The common traits of dragons are respect and pride.
Lifetime: ?
Rarity: Fabled
Physical Appearance:
The most common ways to identify a dragon are its wings, similar to a bat, its large size, its reptilian eyes, and its elongated snout.
Dragons come in a variety of colors, which would typically reflect the same color of their breath. They communicate with others races through telepathy, commonly in language of the race in question. However, with each other, they would communicate with image and feeling alone.
Weight: 2000 lbs - 4000 lbs (Matured state)
Height: 20ft-40ft
Wing span: Depending on height, wings are typically double the height of the dragon, when stretched out.
They can fly for 12 hours straight, but they would need to rest afterwards.
Dragon’s breath can be a variety of elements, ranging from fire to wind. However, dragons would typically breathe fire out of all of the elements. These ‘breath attacks’ are incredibly devastating,
They have something similar to aura and magic, but it can function differently.
Dragons can go underwater for some time.
Location:
The location of dragons are varied. Most, if not all of them, tend to roam around the world at a young age. However, once they found territory, they would remain there, guarding it from all who dared to intrude their territory with hostile intent. While they are fine with other races roaming across their territory and lands, if they ever display hostile intent against the dragon, or reveal intentions to seize the territory from the dragon, then the dragon would guard their territory with all of their might.
Behavior:
The dragons are intelligent, as smart as any other intelligent races that roam the land of Mirrasil. They have their own society, rules, and functions similar to other societies of the races of Mirrasil. However, they tend to be more independent, free spirited, and prideful. They are willing to interact with other races in a friendly manner, but if anyone shows hostile intentions with dragons, they will fight back.
One of the rare occasions to ever occur with dragons are mating. While intercourse can be common, mating is considered sacred to them. Mating bonds the souls of the dragons, uniting them in a sacred bond. However, if the mate of a dragon was to die, the surviving spouse would be consumed by strong emotions of grief and loss, until they deteriorate into the mindframe of a lost dragon.
Lost Dragons are lonesome creatures. Clouded by emotions of loss and grief over the lost of their mate, they would only seek to destroy those around them. They are incredibly destructive, unleashing their grief on the world. Sometimes, the best thing to do with Lost Dragons are to put them out of their misery...
Dragons consider the Dradenartus as fellow dragons, and thus treat them similarly with any other dragon. However, one of the primary difference between the Dradenartus and Dragons is how they communicate. Dragons can only communicate through thought alone, while the Dradenartus can communicate through voice and thought. More wild dragons would communicate through images and sensations, rather than language. However, most dragons have learnt the languages of the world, and use them to communicate to other races.
Another difference between the Dradenartus and Dragons is their life span. Dragons have an extremely long life time. A dragon would never die of old age, but they can still die by another’s hand. However, because dragons are so powerful, they are shy impossible to kill regularly.
History:
The Dragons of the world once came to be during the Age of Creation. While there was nothing but chaos, Dragons were believed to roam throughout this chaos as forces of nature, formed of pure energy. Then, when the Architect formed the primals, and breathed life into Mirrasil, dragons changed from energy to flesh and blood.
Dragons were the exception to the creation of other races. Not Primal, nor Fallen, yet mortal, dragons themselves determined how they were created. Most dragons chose to take the form of powerful creatures, with wings to fly through the air, claws to tear through both flesh and stone, and roars to destroy all those who dared to threaten them.
However, some dragons instead chosen to take two forms… one similar to their brethren, and another similar to the more humanlike races present at the dawn of creation. These dragons were known as the Dradenartus.
Both Dragon and Dradenartus considered each other as their own, and called themselves dragons as a whole. They formed their own society, their own rules, and laws. Respect was one of the greatest aspects of their society. They respected each member of their race, and considered everyone as equals. Pride was also a significant aspect of their behaviour. They valued pride and respect above all else… except when it came to mates.
During the Primal War, Dragons were one of the many races desperately fighting for their survival.
When Odrasil and Easis gifted the mortals with mana and aura cores, dragons were excepted from their gifts. Dragons did not believe in the power of the primals, nor the fallen. They believed in their own might and power, and thus the primals did not grant their gifts to the dragon race.
However, their own physical prowess and might were more than enough to hold their own. Multiple legends of powerful dragons defeating all who dared to attack them exist, as well as stories of dragons downing fallen and primals.
Though they survived the Primal War, their homes are scarce, and dragon communities are few and far in between. Out of all the creatures of the world, the Dragons are one of the few races that remember the tragedy that was the Primal War.
Benefits + Effects:
Dragon scales are extremely valuable, almost as precious as any other gem. Have enough dragon scales, and one could create armor made out of the material. However, these scales can only be given willingly - dragon scales obtained any other way would be worse than useless.
OOC: While the dragons can be considered an intelligent race, they’re primarily event creatures. Some may be more friendly to other races, communicating with them, while others would destroy all those who dared approach their territory. Dragons do have a society, but discovering this fact will be extremely difficult.
Dragons may have no aura, nor magic, but they have something similar to it. They can gather and hold a extremely large amount of energy within them. Dragon energy is different from magic or aura, and is the source of their breath attacks, their telepathic communication, and in the case of the Dradenartus, their transformation, as well as their ‘magic’ and ‘aura’.
Also, Dragons are powerful. EXTREMELY POWERFUL. They can die, but it would take a lot of effort and preparation.
