Do you have any role-playing experience? If so can you tell us examples?
I've been Roleplaying for a good 10 years now, which started in ROBLOX (Yes, glorious isn't it? Hardly something to be proud of but everyone started somewhere) though I can't remember how long I did that. After that, mostly forum Roleplays for a year or two. Eventually I moved over to a server named Uthrandir, a minecraft fantasy roleplay server now notorious for it's bad staff and player base, where I remained for two years, and then Toro League, another modded minecraft server which uses Pixelmon, where I'm an active build team member to this day. I've also roleplayed on Discord, and Skype, in several different settings ranging from Vampire: The Masquarade to RWBY, DnD roleplays, anime roleplays, I've done a lot of it.
In your own words, define Powergaming.
Basically, forcing an action upon someone else.. Leaving no place for the other player to write their own things. A good example of this would be a player using a 'magical powerfull artifact to restrain someone else!', in the process leaving the other player with no room to do anything. It would also mean.. For instance, "Jim grabs Erik's wrist, pulling him closer and instantly sinking his fangs into his neck." - This is another great example, instead of 'attempting' to grab Erik's wrist, Jim decided to emote instantly performing the action, thus not giving the other player any room to act.
In your own words, define Metagaming.
The act of using Out Of Character knowledge, in Character. In minecraft roleplay servers a great example of this is finding someone on the dynmap and walking towards them (Which in some cases can be excused, in fact 'Metagaming' a little can be alright long as both parties don't mind and it gets you all RP, although that's just my experience with it.) Another great example is, reading someone's character biography and realizing he has an innate weakness to red apples for whatever reason, and then throwing red apples at that character without your character having this knowledge in character.
In your own words, what is Roleplaying to you?
To keep it brief, it's acting and a way of expressing yourself. Creating a character in a world that's unlike (Or very like) your own, and acting out his reactions to that world and other characters. Character growth and conflict are the most important things, and one should never frown upon someone who's made a character your character hates, that conflict is what drives RP after all!
How old are you? (Note, this is a PG13+ Server, there will be stuff like death, gore, and other graphic things that will happen within the server.)
I'm 20 years old! Currently working as a mailman.
Have you read the rules and agree to follow them? (Y/N)
Y
State a rule in which you think is most effective, and how it impacts roleplay.
No powergaming. For the love of god I can't stretch this enough, so many roleplayers feel the need to be the most powerful character around, and they sometimes forget that roleplaying is a collective narrative, a story you write together, and not a contest to be the very best. Like noone ever was.
How did you find out about Mirrasil? If a player who was it?
TopRamenFlavor and Courteney14, we decided to join together.
Why do you wish to join Mirrasil?
Whilst I may not be amazingly active, I'd like to get back into fantasy roleplay. I don't know if I'll be staying yet, but hopefully it'll be fun at least!
Anything else you wish to add or tell us about yourself? (This does not affect your whitelist)
Nothing much to add really, just hoping to find a server to RP on with some friends. I'm going to have to be honest, I'm not entirely certain what to do for a character yet. So I decided to make a magically gifted orphan child, with the hopes that I'll figure it out as I RP and get some character development in. I don't know the world well enough yet to make an amazing character anyways. Hopefully this is all right. I have read the magic guide, and wasn't entirely certain where a character should start. Originally, I wanted to have my character be unaware of his magical capabilities but I'm not entirely certain how he would learn it if he does not know. Therefor, I gave him a very basic magical spell that hopefully won't break him too much. i want to stress that he's just a child, who will hopefully grow up during RP. I also don't know how fast characters age in this setting?
What is your favorite pie?
I.. Am actually not that big a pie fan? Apple, I guess.
What is your least liked color?
I guess Puke Green?
CHARACTER SECTION
Character name: Vox Nihilo
Character race:
Human
(Note:The native races are unplayable right now.)
Character age and gender:
A 14 year old male human of average height, and fairly thin build.
Character Personality:
Vox is shy to say the least, having lived most of his life on the street he isn't quick quick to judge but has some major trust issues. He's been tossed around, abused and mishandled his entire life and because of that usually flees or hides when faced with danger. He's not physically strong, and not amazingly dexterous either because he's just a child.
Character Description:
Vox is small, looks malnourished and dirty. He smells, tends to run away from strangers when he's not begging for coin, but would gladly work to earn his pay if someone would offer it to him. His clothes are old and filled with little bits of damage, seemingly too big for him it is likely he found them somewhere as they themselves are far too fancy for the child himself, and more akin to something a noble would have once worn. Several leather straps with tiny pouches decorate the rest of his outfit, filled with a few coins he's earned, a knife and perhaps even food if he can find it.
Character Backstory:
(At least 2-3 Paragraphs, on your character’s history and experiences in life.):
Sadly, I do not know the full lore yet so I will keep it simple. I sadly could not find any town names and such on the forums. Born on the streets, Vox does not know where he came from and who his parents were. He grew up on the streets, begging and doing odd-jobs to earn some minor pay or food, sometimes even resorting to theft if he thinks he could get away with it. He's too young for anything major, and the fact that he barely eats makes anything a massive undertaking. He can't work for too long, or he'll get exhausted and even more hungry then the pay he'll earn would allow him to buy food for.
Character’s Skills:
(You cannot have mastery in a skill just yet, though some form of decency is allowed. DO NOT BE LAZY and do NOT use the bullet format, be descriptive in describing what your character can do.):
Vox is magically gifted, something he's had as a child and is currently barely aware of, he's still young and had no time to practice it yet. He's got a very basic understanding of haggling, he knows where to find food (Legally, or otherwise) and generally knows how to get away if someone decided he's not worth the light of day. Sadly, he's not majorly strong or dexterous, but he's quick and extremely witty for a child his age, capable of thinking his way out of situations on the spot. Be it by talking his way out of it with his 'I'm just a poor kid Sir' act, or by hoofing it in the opposite direction, down under the trading stall, through that crowd of people and into the dark alleyway so he could hide around the corner whilst his attacker is still trying to wriggle his way past the angry stall owner. He's small, and he's quick, right now that's the only advantage he has and he'll abuse it long as he could.
SCENARIO SECTION
Clouds of monotonous grey blur the once blue skies, rain heavily crashing down. You keep walking through the rain.. An endless journey, until you happen to stumble upon a tavern, which seems to be open. You enter it with hope, before a sense of warmth and security filling you in the filled tavern. You manage to find an empty table by a window, so you decide to sit there. You seem to daydream.. Up until the point a woman with kind hazel eyes sits in front of you with a soft smile.
You are sitting inside a tavern, a woman with a kind smile and soothing voice sits in front of you.. Something about her seems rather open and freeing. She proceeds to ask you something.
“What is your name, unfamiliar one?”
Your Answer:
"Huh-Oh! Nihil Ma'am" The child answered, slightly flinching at the sudden voice and giving the woman a suspicious look. She seemed kind enough, of course, and Vox certainly would not want to get the ire of an adult. The fact that she remained so calm and kind around him seemed to unsettle him a little. "Actually.. It-It's Vox nihil.. But you ehrm-Probably don't care. So call me what you like."
The woman nods in acknowledgment to your answer, a flicker of curiosity sparking in her eyes.
“Ah, well met. My name is Myra. So, where do you come from? You seem to be travelling alone..”
As you spoke, a warmth filled Myra’s eyes, almost a feeling of nostalgia. She would nod and make an ‘Mhm’ noise to show she was listening, retaining eye contact with you.
Your Answer:
The burning eye contact unsettled Nihil even more, holding onto his shoulders he pushed himself against the side of the wall and gazed blankly out the window, his cheecks slightly puffing up as he thought of a way out of this situation, and his knees pulled up onto the seat. His warm raggedy looking coat seemed all too big for him, and he completely wrapped it around himself as if he expected it to save him from the stranger. "Oh around.." He just murmured, a weak skinny hand moved through his dirty looking hair as he cast his shallow looking eyes back onto the woman. "M-Mostly travel, I ehm.. Don't like talking about it."
“Interesting. . What do you do for a living, to make money-? Or rather, what skills do you find yourself somewhat knowing?”
Your Answer:
The boy tensed up a little and looked back over at the woman again, his mouth opening to say something yet he only gasped for air and closed it again. He wasn't entirely certain what to say, so he once again rested his chin on his now pulled-up knees and kept his shallow eyes set on the stranger. "O-Oh ehm.. I do whatever gets me. You know-" He lightly cleared his throat, flustered and unsure, it wouldn't be the first time someone wanted to hire him for shady business, and that's the last thing he wanted to think about. "Long as I survive." He murmured eventually, having nothing else to say.
As you told her of your skills, Myra would briefly tilt her head in thought, as she spoke, her tone laced with interest.
“Are you a wielder of magic?”
Your Answer:
"K-Kind of..?" His voice was nothing but a soft murmur at this point, and he already hopped down.. He didn't have the money to stay in the nice and warm place for too long anyways, and he didn't want anybody kicking him out. "I should go.. It was nice seeing you-lady." Just like that he fled out the door as fast as he got there, around the corner and back into a dark alleyway.
The rain had eventually been dominated by silence, the sun once again pouring down it's golden rays to warm the earth, a single sun ray beaming through the window. Myra would tilt her head towards the window, before sighing softly.* "It has been nice speaking to you, though I'm afraid I must take my leave now. May fate allow our paths to cross once more."
