Physical Appearance
The Fruit Drake, like most other dragons, differ greatly from each other, with their appearance depending greatly on what they have in their surroundings. Their builds vary between each species of drake, some having a slender, serpentine shape, and others coming in rounder, chubbier builds. Their appendages can also change depending on the drake, some having a small set of wings to glide from tree to tree or normal legs to claw their way around. Coloring and texture of their scales usually match the fruits that they eat. An example being a grape Fruit Drake with soft yellow semi-translucent skin or a durian Fruit Drake with spiked green or brown scales.
Despite their name and appearance however, they do not only eat fruits. They also may be seen eating nuts, flower nectar, or insects that are usually harmful. This diet is beneficial to the tree, as they can help spread pollen from one flower to the next, and plant more of the tree’s seeds from its fruit. Because their diet depends on the warmer seasons they hibernate through winter in hollowed trees or in small burrows at the tree's base until spring.
Rarity: Common - Uncommon
Location
They seem to flourish in warmer temperatures where fruit is bountiful. The trees of Namikk and Shinovek’Lavay are usually home to these critters, as well as other areas with a prevalent fruit source.
Behavior
Fruit Drakes are highly social, commonly seen living in groups of up to ten or twenty in one area where they glide from one fruit tree to the next. These large numbers are also helpful in defense against predators. If a drake spots an enemy intruding into their territory they will raise the alarm to scatter and hide.
Their relationship with humanoids can vary from orchard to orchard depending on their past experiences with the race. If the drakes have lived without incident, then they are likely to be fairly friendly and willing to approach. With patience and a gentle hand they have also been known to be tamable and kept as pets. . so long as the owner has food that is.
