The server has never been intended, indicated, implied, or ever meant to be free-form RP. The server was advertised as an exploration/ survival rp, and only magic was meant to be somewhat freeform. Even then it’s not true freeform more like freeform-lite, like diet coke but less sucking.
Anyways to respond back to everything especially about the native’s as that’s my field of expertise. A common thing I’m seeing is the belief that the group going to the native’s are “hugboxers” which I’m going to admit right off the bat makes me disappointed we’re not even two weeks into the server and already people are grouping people in insulting terms. As a joke, sure haha get a laugh off but my honest to god hope was you all would be better than that, because no one likes having their RP stigmatized or insulted behind a “LOL That’s all they RP.” Often times I can point back to a situation where many of you felt hurt about people saying that about your RP, don’t be that guy in return. Every single person that has gained an alliance with the native’s usually first were threated, with deadly force. Often times the people (Funny enough woman characters) tend to talk down and learned how the native’s interacted and to appease them. Most often I’ve seen male characters spouting off their mouth which in turn got them runned off (IE: Raymon and Vesryn). And in regards to hugboxers, I’ve seen most of these Rp’ers these ‘hugboxers’ given the right DM situation before go out for the murder kill. Not everyone enjoys making every fight a life or death, players like the Slice of slice simplicity. So yes these hugboxers can kill and will given the right circumstance.
Let’s go over, the boon working with the explorers. Working with the explorers was intended to be the boon of better gear. However there’s a tiny problem, expecting full automony with a group with limited supplies. They have limited land/supplies/weaponry and man power. As of 10:43PM EST on 6/11/2017 I asked Zero how often his ch aracter has been asked “How do I join the explorers,” and “How do I get benefits/work a formal alliance between my camp and yours?”
You want to know the answer? “Zero”, which means the very same people who are complaining are not doing anything to actually get the equipment/benefits. These people with a military order and idealogy, you are an unknown entity doing a quest or two or a demand or two doesn’t meet anything. Having a camp that takes up their limited supplies without a formal alliance only shows you could easily go “HEY NATIVE’S WE GOT SOME OF THEIR IRON TIME TO MAKE THEM DEAD!” No sane person in their right mind would give you good equipment, you need to /earn/ their trust. Just because you’re a knight/hero/paladin/edgy dark mage doesn’t mean they owe you anything.
And in return, because they have all this gear that players HAVE TO ENGAGE and MAKE DEALS to obtain they have no magic. Here’s the thing that everyone seems to be forgetting. Aura, makes, magic, bad, in 1v1, battles. Vesryn got attacked by a squadron of mages, and he still stood up to a full 2 waves barrage of magical attacks before losing his Aura. If the boy had a bow and arrow in that situation he’d have dropped one, maybe two before his aura went down. Could get the jump on them, that’s the fact. Not having magic is the bane, but if you make deals and actually do work to get gear you get stuff. And oh that’s not mentioning common sense 101, guess which side has the actual sea captains who can sail/make ships for you? *Whistle* Not the land based natives.
As in regards to 90% asking me for magic, holy shit where is that number coming from? A majority of the players haven’t even asked me for magic and the simple truth is I have not ooc promised anyone anything. If you don’t ask, you don’t get anything and the native’s promising food and shelter? What, I’ve actively been indicating the native’s want the outlanders (IE: People sitting in the camp today) to find their own land and get the fuck out. THe native camp was intended from Day 0 to be a place people could have “gentler” Rp, because not everyone wants hardcore survival, high detail smithery, high level conflict. That’s why you have both factions, with both sides attempting to offer a different experience.
As for the disadvantage for natives, again unless you’re choosing really stupid locations to fight (IE: THeir camps or the ruins which was decided solely by RP and the server). Vesryn alone took on THREE native’s at once and easily outmaneuevered them, they’re not skilled fighters they’re tactics are based on hunting. The whole formation they took is similar to a wolf, trap the target between them and close it off from escaping. No shields, no armor, and the best they have is bronze and very few have that. Because of that they have magic as their boon, and if no one has been paying attention notice this. Their spells are not hyper creative, they’re basics.
So I’m going to put it real simple: Explorers = Good gear/No magic. Native’s = Shitty gear/Magic.
It’s meant to be a opposites, and always has been. You will get neither side’s boon if you don’t ask. For example people complain they don’t want to be in the war zone, or ...they want their own settlement. Out of 60+ whitelisted players only 2 players have asked IN ROLEPLAY “How can I set up a settlement without being attacked by native’s/explorers. Because you CRASHED Here, no one wants you to get set up and take their land. They need it and were here before you, they owe you nothing.
And Ralph, you know from your own experiences you cannot force anyone...to do anything they don’t want to. The fact of the matter is people don’t want what you’re dishing out and if that’s the case *TRY A DIFFERENT APPROACH*. Before the server started I asked everyone about the native’s and oftne times I heard the same thing “Please don’t make them hyper aggressive native’s.” People didn’t want to crash land on the ship and being attacked right away with nothing on hand. I roleplayed my native’s approaching cautiously, defensively. If your character made a wrong move thats RP and they attacked. And even then I have not killed a single person, ever. If I gave no damn about what your characters did for low level aggression, people would be dead. And Ralph if you wanted to send letters, likely hood doing it in server or having someone translate is KEY.
And empire’s I’ve seen is when a big enough group of RPers get together and generally have the following:
So now the gear and the handheld weapon, guess what...A bow and arrow is all you’re for ranged to protect yourself. Throw on some light gear (You know ranger stuff, leather etc.) Start sneaking and take out your target. You are undergeared on purpose, you crash landed...you’re not getting guns. A bow and arrow can silently take out a native scout and as your character is better trained I’m sure you could do this without a problem if you put in the energy. You want gear? Ask Diana, ASK DIANA >Ask. Diana.< Whether or not she gives it to you is RP Dictated. Did you put in enough effort, gain enough trust, do enough work for them to go “Yeah we only have twenty iron swords, but we can trust Vesryn and his squad NOT to turn that on us. So ...here you go!”
And protect? The native’s believe in strength, they believe every single person in their village can fight. They do not babysit nor follow them around. The two times we’ve fought Ralph (Once at your camp, where you would have slaughtered all three native’s had they stayed. You were badly equipped at the time too*) and the second time on their front line turf which is just a poor tactical choice no matter where you go. None of them are being babysitted, if they native’s saw weakness they’d deal with it. You want to make a situation where you confront someone? Ask them, don’t just try to force it as compromise tends to have better RP/outcome for both parties.
And yes I haven’t approved of any settlement attacked beyond yours, and I openly told you why and before. IF people are doing this get staff involved.

And empire’s I’ve seen is when a big enough group of RPers get together and generally have the following:
- A very skilled writer who spends much of his time crafting/writing very detailed posts to back up their actions.

- Situations and staff playing according to the roleplay they see.
