Astarothi Culture
“The world I come from is as cruel as the winters they have.
Children died of starvation, and of cold. Mothers smothered infants.
Men raided towns. No wonder I’m covered in scars.
The night is dark and full of terrors.”
Language:
Astarothi., it sounds alike to many of the slavic languages, but is most similar to Slovenian in sound and appearance. It is considered a medium level language to learn.

Marriage Rituals:
Astarothi people marry and die young. All women are married off around the age of thirteen, along with the men. The ceremony is started with the bride and groom’s wrists being tied together on one hand. One of their arms is bound the entire night. They have a simple priest do the vows. Astaroth culture has them take a specific vow.
“I will be your light in the darkness.
I will be your home in the shadows.
I will protect you from the night.
I will be yours from now and always.”

-------------------------------------------------------
Astarothi behavior:
Patriarchal society. Women were not treated well. Didn’t live long, as the winters were long and lifespans were short. No concept of divorce. Harsh punishments. Racist society.
Religious extremists.
-----------------------------------------------------
Religion:
The Lady of The Lake
Mother of Snow
Flame’s wife
The wife to the next god, The Lady of The Lake is considered a winter angel, creating life, marriage and love. Although considered inferior, she is said to have been the first deity. Even though she is supposed to be warm and gentle, the people believe she hates those who commit ‘degernate’ acts, religious heresy, and break the law. She is worshipped in public areas or at home, usually prayed to loudly. She is sang to usually.
The Flayed Man
Flame’s Revenge
The Harbringer
The Flayed Man is shown as a shadow, especially one flickering in candlelight. He is said to have been a young man, flayed for little wrong, that caught The Lady of The Lake’s attention. She brought him to deity status and they married. He represents sickness, pain, and death. The people usually pray to him before they punish another, or those being punished pray for a lesser sentence. He is worshipped in a dark room, through silent prayer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Celebrations:
Winter Solstice
This occasion is usually celebrated by large campfires, dancing and singing. This day is known to the native people as the day that The Lady of The Lake is closest with everyone. It is known as her holy day. It is spent in celebration and in prayer.
All Hallows Eve
This dark night is reserved for The Flayed Man. There are no parties, simply fasting and silent prayer. The houses and streets are kept in silence and dark. Speaking on this night can be punishable by rather harsh charges, often seen as heresy and disrespect to the flayed man.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic Opinions:
Magic- Strong distaste. Can be punished by flaying or being burnt at the stake if discovered.
Women- Treated inferiorly.
Men- Ruling gender, seen as superior.
Wedlock- Bastard children are sometimes killed, but are usually shunned, as long as the father is the one with the child. If the mother keeps it, she is labeled a harlot and burned at the stake.
