Mechononiaty
In a few cultures of humans and other races alike, there is a religion called Mechononiaty. This religion surrounds a man who is believed to have once been human but brought about many advancements for all races to enjoy, a deity/demigod who walks the world in order to bring prosperity and development to society and its devices. He is referred to as ‘The Crow’ or ‘The Black Bird’ in old tomes, his real name long lost and forgotten.
The most well known story has to do with his first bringing of simple items to the races, teaching them of what they could learn if they followed him. Many remained skeptical of him and his words, unbelieving in such an eccentric man. Those who stood with him learned of how to make metal swords, bows, and arrows.
The man wore odd clothing, a top hat adorning the crown of his head accompanied by the face and neck area, donning a pasty white plague doctor mask. He wore boots that went up to his knees and an odd overcoat that hid his thin torso. But he'd retired one night in a town to rest there until morning. But heretics occupied the town without his knowledge.
The Crow was maimed in his slumber, those who had refused to believe him having not gained as his followers did, they wanted what he refused them after their original rejection. They brutally removed his left forearm along with stealing some blueprints of what he'd taught his followers. He disappeared from the normal towns and cities he visited. He was thought dead after this sudden vanishing act. Prophets foretell that The Crow will return one day, bringing prosperity and innovation in his path.
There are a handful of shrines scattered amongst the islands for this man. The numbers of those who believe this religion has wavered, but there are few who still believe in The Crow’s return. This man of invention and revelation brought the world great things. Maybe one day he shall again.
