Personality:
Balfare generally holds good manners, actually being quite sophisticated. He is the strong, quite type, prone to listening more than speaking and actually tending to stay away from most social interactions if he can help it. Unless he knows a person well, it is very hard to get him to open up - though it is possible, whether it is through combat, labor, or a shared struggle. Balfare has shown to be quite intelligent when it comes to his own body and his surroundings, being quite resourceful in his actions and techniques. However, he isn't perfect. He is vain in his accomplishments and his fighting prowess, believing himself to be better than most others. He can also be very brutal if the time calls for it, willing to break bones so opponents cannot escape.
Background
Balfare was born in a small village and was the youngest of his siblings. He and his siblings spent most of their time indoors and within the village during their youth due to their parents wishing to keep them safe from the outside world. They were taught how to do basic and necessary skills, taught to read, and even taught multiple pieces of literature. When the children grew older, some of them started working around the village. However, once Balfare started nearing the age of 19, he decided that he wanted to finally see the world for himself. After some debating, the children of the household were all allowed to start on their own lives. They all set out into the world and split apart, going their own ways.
Balfare traveled for some time, but was quickly overwhelmed by the lack of a home, money and food. Due to his features and hygiene, he was shunned in many cities and belittled. He got into fights, and while he won a few, the bigger men would beat him senseless. He started to avoid the cities, and eventually this would lead him to get lost in the nearby wastes. This is where he would run into a much older man carrying multiple bags with him. He had nothing to call his own, and the weights of the world pressing down on him - he decided to try and rob the man of his possessions. However, the older man swiftly beat Balfare into the dirt. He fought so precisely that it was over in an instant.
The man looked over Balfare, and after a long talk, he offered Balfare a direction to go in. The old man was renowned as a martial artist and a scholar. Balfare felt something new - the world was wonderful to see, but it gave him nothing. This possibility in front of him gave him a reason to continue forward. The man offered food and a roof to put over his head. He offered to teach him to fight, to master his body and his mind. Balfare always held a natural sense of pride, and after being beaten again and again, he wanted to work to never feel so low and weak ever again. He would spend many, many years training under his new teacher. He trained his body, meditated regularly, and learned to keep himself healthy. He refined his mannerisms and his way of speaking, though he was still very quiet in nature. He also learned to peer into others for their true intentions, and to read people's emotions. He grew with the old man's other students, and quickly rocketed to the top of his class. He had great potential naturally, and beat all of the other students. However, with such strides in power and technique, he was quickly growing arrogant.
His teacher saw this, and decided that he needed one final test before his studies would be complete. He challenged Balfare, who went into the battle ferociously, wishing to show how much he had grown. However, once again, he lost. His teacher told him that no one is ever done growing until the day they die. His arrogance would be his undoing if he was not careful. However, his potential was remarkable and he was an excellent fighter. Balfare didn't listen though - he was too hung up on his loss, why he lost. He respected his teacher, and thanked him for the time he invested. That night, though, he packed his things and silently departed. In his eyes, he was ready to move out once again. He had to. From there on, his developments changed. As he garnered more control of magical energy to enhance his fighting, he would work to develop more techniques that could aid him. Utilities to turn the tides of battle in his favor. His fighting style also got more vicious, against his original teachings. Akin to his teacher's form, he focuses on balance and mobility, and will attempt to target certain pressure points or knock joints out of their sockets. He is also willing to break bones if he has to, and isn't afraid to kill. He can't be - not if everyone else isn't. For some time, he worked as a mercenary to test his skills and gain ample money as he needed. Now, though, he merely travels to find whatever it is he's still looking for. To fill whatever sits inside of him and causes him to feel empty.
